Limited Capacity seats available

Children must experience independent reading with intentional reading instruction. We will take a fresh look at the reading workshop mini-lessons and how they change in complexity across the year. Structure, environment, management, and stamina will be the pieces of study to help teachers keep our readers engaged. You'll walk away prepared and confident to implement independent reading during reading workshop within the first week of school.

This course is designed for all first and second grade teachers who want to deepen their understandings of building independent readers. During our time together, teachers will learn how a lesson grows in complexity across the school year and strategies to bridge the mini-lesson to independent reading. In addition, we will work on how to support children when Meaning, Syntax, and Visual cues are unbalanced.

TAKEAWAYS: Teachers will walk away with a few mini-lessons to begin the year, songs and poems to use for phonemic awareness, and the confidence to plan intentional daily mini-lessons.
