Want to take an advanced long-term course that helps both teachers and students build powerful numeracy and deep mathematical understandings ? Are you willing to enter a partnership on your campus between an interventionist and a core math teacher? This is an advanced opportunity for middle school math interventionists and grades 6 and 7 classroom teachers to dive into practical, student-centered methods to support them in helping children think deeply about mathematics. One of the goals of intervention is to support deep number sense and the development of a repertoire of strategies based on landmark numbers and operations. This partnership that is launched with this first session will help build relationships between intervention and core math teachers at the campus level. Interventionists will meet together for district collaborative sessions hosted during the school year. Campus partnerships will meet together on campus, and also participate in webinars, Google classroom activities, and hangouts with the entire district cadre. Let’s take this opportunity to join forces to help support our students who struggle with mathematics. Each participant will receive two books that will be used throughout the year in our book study. The first book is Building Powerful Numeracy for Middle and High School Students, and the second is Lessons and Activities for Building Powerful Numeracy. Both books are by Pamela Harris who is a former secondary math teacher and highly renowned national instructor and speaker. The course is limited so register soon with your partner teacher(s).
