Process and Product - Elementary Music Orff
Limited Capacity seats available

Most Orff arrangements that use barred instruments also involve singing, moving, body percussion, drama, and more. We will experience the process by which these musical elements are taught in the classroom. The process is essential to Orff schulwerk. We will then discover ways to present a final product for performance that maintains authentic, musical meaning for both the students, teacher, and audience.

Computer Composing - Elementary Music

The purpose of this session is to introduce a way to introduce and explore musical composition. Using Chrome Music Lab’s “Song Maker” program and Apple’s “Garage Band” for composing as well as Google Forms for assessment, teachers will have tools to create teaching strategies for the composition portion of the elementary music curriculum.

Do you use Google Sites as your teacher website, but want to make it more exciting? Don't have a class webpage? Want to teach your students how to create their own Google Site as a portfolio? In this workshop, participants will learn how to create a Google Site website, how to make new pages and archive your previous year's works. You will see examples of ways you can showcase your students at work and featured artwork. This will be geared to a beginner, but more advanced users will get ideas on ways to add even more to their pages. Time to work on your site will also be offered.

From Uke to Guitar: A sequential approach to integrating strings into your classroom and extracurricular clubs

The clinician will provide approachable, relevant, sequential materials in order to get you and your students singing and playing stringed instruments in the classroom and in extracurricular clubs. The first part of the morning will focus on Ukulele, while the second part will focus on guitar. Instruments will not be provided, so please bring along a Uke or a Guitar (both, if you have them). Optional materials: tuner, guitar capo.

Visual Art Faculty Kiln Safety and Maintenance Training – Compliance

A mandatory Round Rock ISD compliance training session. Newly hired visual art faculty are required to take this training with annual updates online. Course content covers basic kiln operation and usage, cleaning and maintenance, basic evaluation techniques along with district expectations of use. A question and answer session at the end of the training allows participants to discuss their specific situations, concerns and questions with Tim Lowke, Assistant Director of Visual & Performing Arts.
